It is almost inevitably a term of abuse, implying something dark, barbarous, gloomy, and macabre. Ironically, its negative connotations have made it, in some ideals, a symbol of rebellion. Today, the words "goth" and "gothic" are popularly associated with black-clad teenagers and mascara-wearing rock musicians such as The March Violets, The Cure, Joy Division, etc. However, the gothic has many layers of meaning. The gothic look has been an important and recurring theme in contemporary fashion, not only within the goth subculture but also in high fashion.

I combine composed photos and videos, mixing high fashion with signs of overconsumption to create a captivating yet uncomfortable story. The project pays tribute to gothic music and ties in contemporary high fashion's gothic elements. By embracing gothic imagery, I encourage reflection on our collective behaviors. The dark setting represents the fallout of unchecked consumerism, prompting viewers to rethink their roles. "TEXTURE" is both a visual experience and a critique of modern complexities, showing that the gothic aesthetic can effectively comment on our consumption-focused society.
